The Antelope Valley Desert Divers, Inc. are sponsoring the Annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest on October 28th, 2017 registration begins at 9:00 AM at the Palmdale Parks and Recreation Oasis Swimming Pool at 3850 C East Ave S in Palmdale. The Oasis Swimming Pool is located at the intersection of Avenue S and 40thStreet East. There is plenty of parking available.
The fee for the contest is $6.00 per person. The carving will begin promptly at 9:30 and continue until 11:00 AM. Contestant’s carved pumpkins will be judged at that time.
All divers participating must be in possession of their certification card before being allowed to dive. Divers Should provide their own dive gear and air tank there is a limited amount of scuba gear and tanks at the pool First come first serve.
Pre-cleaned pumpkins and carving implements will be provided. Pumpkins must be carved with the carving implements provided. No outside knives are approved for use. Pumpkins carved in the water must be carved completely under the water. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: 1) Underwater carving for certified divers ages 10 to 110 and 2) Poolside participants 5 to 10 years of age(no carving magic makers) .
Not a certified diver and still would like to try diving? you can try it by participating in Scuba Experience, show up at Oasis Swimming Pool at 9:00am must be at 10 years or older all you need to bring is a bathing suit and a towel, if you're under 18 you need a parent or guardian.
