40th Annual Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup

Our February club dive will the annual Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup, which after a 2-year hiatus, is coming back in person in 2022! Purchase your tickets to participate in the cleanup here. You can choose to dive a couple of different sites, including at Casino Point or Green Pier.

Divers from AVDD typically stay at Seaport Village Inn, which caters to divers, but there is no block of rooms set aside for us. The fastest way to get to Catalina is via the Catalina Express, which leaves out of Long Beach. There are plenty of boats each day, so you should have no trouble getting to Avalon, and we will see you there!

Some information about the cleanup:

USC’s Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber and Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies – Catalina Conservation Divers are proud to host this annual event. This is the only time scuba diving is allowed in Avalon Bay, with 500+ expected volunteer divers collecting trash and debris.

Awards ceremony follows on Wrigley Stage with prizes & giveaways. Proceeds benefit the USC Hyperbaric Chamber and the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies Scientific Diving Program.
